How do I arrange for Airport Pickup?

The ELS Central Admissions Department arranges the airport transfer, but the Counselor will need to provide important information about the student.

Please follow the following 2 steps:

Step 1: 

Please have the following information regarding your student:

  • Student name (ELS ID number is also requested - if known)
  • ELS Center location to attend
  • Airline name (for arrival into the final destination)
  • Flight number and airport name (or code)
  • Port of Entry into the USA (if different from final destination)
  • Anticipated time of arrival and date

Step 2: 

After collecting all of the information from Step 1, please email these details to your ELS Central Admissions Advisor.

Other Transportation from Airport

The Marin Airporter offers shuttle service from San Francisco Int'l airport to San Rafael Transit Center in San Rafael or to Novato. The fare is $31 cash plus tip. Domestic arrivals may catch the Marin Airporter just outside the baggage claim area of the terminal in the area marked for "Airporters." International arrivals should go outside through Door #3 (outside Customs). Students should board the Marin Airporter at stops marked with signs "Airporters." The Marin Airporter runs every half hour from 5:30 am to midnight. Alternatively, students may take a taxi from the airport, or download the UBER, or LYFT apps to use one of these on demand ride share services. Follow the signs to either the taxi, or "Ride app pickup" lots.

Check-in: Students go directly to their homestay address. Homestay students should notify their Host Families and ELS of their arrival times so that families will know to be home when they arrive. Students should contact their host at least 48 hours prior to arrival to introduce themselves and arrange arrival plans.  
Check-out: As a courtesy to their host family, students must inform both the ELS office and their hosts of their departure plans several days prior to their day of departure.

Center Registration

On the first day (Monday) of registration and orientation: All new students should arrive to the center at 8:15 am to register for classes, and attend orientation. Students will be emailed a link to the Placement Test prior to arrival.

If a holiday falls on a first Monday, ELS Centers will be open only to register newly arriving students.

What to Bring

  • A copy of I-20 Form
  • Funds to pay all remaining fees by credit card at ELS
  • Proof of medical insurance (if not purchased through ELS)
